Our principles
Regen Melbourne’s principles were born from a community-led process over 2020-2021. We know statements can only go so far and we’re committed to bringing these to life in all that we do. Sometimes that will be in tension with the actions we are used to and we may get it wrong. We invite you into this journey with us, and welcome your own embodiment and adaptation of these principles.
We recognise and honour the connection of First Peoples to Country and value their contribution to caring for and managing the land and waterways of Melbourne
We commit to building reciprocal relationships that build a safe and just future for all
We believe in the balance between wisdom and action, between pursuing research to increase our knowledge and undertaking projects to generate change on the ground. And as we embark on this balance we embrace learning by doing with curiosity, with others.
We value both community-led approaches and sector-based expertise. And we bring our full capabilities, whatever they are, into this network.
We move at the pace of trust
We will participate in less hierarchy and more dialogue, creating circles (and doughnuts), not silos
The above principles were co-designed as the principles that determine how we strive towards a goal of moving Melbourne into the safe and just space as defined by our Melbourne Doughnut.
