How might we test and demonstrate models of collective governance that can hold the complexity of transformational change?

Ambitious transformation requires sensemaking and coherence across many actors. As a result new forms of collective governance are required to hold and navigate this complexity. This project provides support to and learns from the development of the three Steward Boards that support our Earthshots. This includes providing Earthshot Leads and their Boards with the necessary tools, training and support to thrive. In addition to developing the Stewards Boards as a novel kind of governance, Regen Melbourne will also use the insights gained through the operation of the Stewards Boards to develop other new kinds of place-based governance to bring more Melburnians into roles that are contributing to the creation of a regenerative Melbourne. Our role in this project is also to explore how novel governance models inform and interact with established governance mechanisms at a local and state level.
Our role is to support and learn from the new governance mechanisms across Regen Melbourne's work. This includes sharing our learnings with partners and the wider public.

Each of the three Earthshot Stewards Boards have been formed, with terms of reference and membership finalised and a regular meeting cadence.
